AI Thread Summary
To search for specific topics like "vertex" on Physics Forums, users can select "search" from the menu below the PF logo. An effective method is to use Google with the query "site:physicsforums.com" to narrow results to the site. Alternatively, users can click on "Search" at the top of any PF page, then select "Advanced Search" to fill out the search form. It's important to click "Search Now" instead of "Go" to execute the search properly. These methods help streamline the search process for newcomers.

Selecting "search" from the menu that you have just below PF logo.

Alternatively, you can use Google for that - just add "site:physicsforums.com" to your search query, to limit it to the site.

Borek's suggestion is good. Another alternative:

1. Click on "Search". Not "Search this thread", but "Search", way at the top of this or any PF page.

2. In the drop-down list, click on "Advanced Search"

3. Fill in the search form and click "Search Now". Do not click "Go", that does not make the search happen.

(Damn that "Go" button, why must it torment me so? :frown:)

Thanks

I want to thank those members who interacted with me a couple of years ago in two Optics Forum threads. They were @Drakkith, @hutchphd, @Gleb1964, and @KAHR-Alpha. I had something I wanted the scientific community to know and slipped a new idea in against the rules. Thank you also to @berkeman for suggesting paths to meet with academia. Anyway, I finally got a paper on the same matter as discussed in those forum threads, the fat lens model, got it peer-reviewed, and IJRAP...
About 20 years ago, in my mid-30s (and with a BA in economics and a master's in business), I started taking night classes in physics hoping to eventually earn the science degree I'd always wanted but never pursued. I found physics forums and used it to ask questions I was unable to get answered from my textbooks or class lectures. Unfortunately, work and life got in the way and I never got further the freshman courses. Well, here it is 20 years later. I'm in my mid-50s now, and in a...
