SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the structural design of low walls in relation to beams in brickwall construction. It is established that low walls should ideally rest on top of beams to ensure proper load distribution and structural integrity. The inquiry was made by a student exploring design principles, confirming that the design of low walls without direct support from beams is not advisable. The consensus emphasizes the importance of supporting all walls, including low walls, on beams for optimal performance.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of structural engineering principles
  • Knowledge of beam and wall load distribution
  • Familiarity with brickwall construction techniques
  • Basic concepts of architectural design
NEXT STEPS
  • Research beam load calculations in structural design
  • Study the implications of wall placement on structural integrity
  • Learn about different types of wall supports in construction
  • Explore software tools for structural analysis, such as AutoCAD or Revit
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for civil engineers, architecture students, and construction professionals involved in designing and analyzing structural frameworks, particularly those focusing on wall and beam interactions in brickwall construction.

1.Hey guys!
I will need to design a floor with slab, beams and columns. Brickwall should rest on top of beam as possible. How about low wall, does it needs to rest on top of beams as well? Thanks!

2. No equation

3. I've designed some, but without low wall, that's what made me curious.

P/S : This is neither a homework or work, I'm only into my course for awhile now, I'm just curious.

Thanks!
