Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the availability of software for solving electrical circuits, specifically focusing on tools that can handle components like resistors, capacitors, and transistors. The scope includes recommendations for various circuit simulation programs, both free and commercial.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Technical explanation, Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant inquires about software that can solve current electricity circuits given specific component values.
  • Another participant suggests SPICE as a potential solution.
  • A different participant recommends Multisim and provides a link to an electronic workbench website.
  • Another contribution notes the existence of hundreds of circuit simulation programs, highlighting a mix of free and expensive options from large companies, and emphasizes their importance in electrical engineering.
  • A link to a resource for free circuit simulation programs is also provided.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally agree that there are multiple software options available for circuit simulation, but no consensus is reached on a single preferred program.

Contextual Notes

The discussion does not clarify specific features or limitations of the suggested software, nor does it address the varying needs of users based on their experience or project requirements.

Who May Find This Useful

Do we have a software which solves current electricity circuits when given requisite values of resistors,capacitors...and yeah also have transistors...
Please do tell..

Do you mean like SPICE?

There are hundreds of circuit simulation programs. Some are free, and some are written by enormous companies (Cadence, Synopsys, etc.) and cost tens of thousands of dollars per user.

Circuit simulation programs are the bedrock -- quite literally -- of electrical engineering.

Check out http://www.geda.seul.org/ for tons of free circuit simulation programs.
