Guys I am totally new to this forum. I have a doubt in aerial delivery of packages.

we have a package that is to be delivered. the airplane is flying at a constant velocity. the wind also influences the package that is dropped . let us ignore the influence of wind on the aircraft for simplicity and also because this influence is negligible. at what distance must the package mustbe detached or dropped for it to land on the specified point. I assume it follows horizontal projectile with initial velocity. please help me to calculate the exact distance at which the package must be dropped to land at the point.

also is there any software to simulate this

thanks

but how do we include the effect of wind

Well firstly, don't say ignore wind resistance if you actually want to include it.

A basic use would be that wind resistance is providing an acceleration in the horizontal direction.
