AI Thread Summary
The discussion highlights a troubling trend in hiring practices where companies are increasingly stating "unemployed need not apply" in job postings. A Vice-President from the Adecco Group noted that this requirement is confirmed in 75% of conversations regarding hiring. This practice raises concerns about fairness in the job market, especially for those who have been laid off. While some participants acknowledge the logic behind this trend, they also express frustration over its implications for qualified candidates who are currently unemployed. The conversation touches on the legality of such practices and compares them to other controversial hiring criteria, emphasizing the need for a more equitable approach to employment opportunities.

The logic is sound even if it seems unfair.

Lovely journalism examiner

"I don't have hard numbers, but three out of the last four conversations I've had about openings, this requirement was brought up."

3 out of 4 conversations = 75% of conversations. Sure. Sigh.
