Stainless Steel odour-removal bar

Click For Summary
The discussion centers around the effectiveness of a stainless steel soap bar designed to remove odors from hands when washed under running water. Participants debate whether there is a scientific basis for its claims and whether it actually works. Some anecdotal evidence suggests that stainless steel can help eliminate strong food odors, such as garlic and onion, with one user reporting a "fresher" smell after rubbing hands on a stainless steel sink. However, skepticism remains regarding the necessity of the soap bar shape, as any stainless steel object may yield similar results. The conversation also highlights the need for controlled experiments to verify claims, with suggestions for blind tests and comparisons with regular soap and water. Ultimately, while some users report positive experiences, the lack of scientific validation and the potential for subjective perception of odor removal are acknowledged.

I will be taking this on as a side project as Christmas break is coming up and I will need something to do! (plus lots of family to do the tests on!)

I'll be interested to hear what you come up with, MotoH.

It's now become my habit that, after rinsing my hands under cool water while preparing vegetables, I rub my hands on the side of the sink. I love that freshness. It's not an odour remover, because the odour is gone with just cool water, but the combination of cool water and stainless steel on your hands is intriguing. Has anyone else tried it? Am I imagining things?
