AI Thread Summary
The production of the Yugo has officially ended after nearly 30 years, marking the end of a vehicle often ridiculed for its quality. Jokes about the Yugo's reliability include humorous anecdotes such as heated rear windows designed to keep hands warm while pushing the car. Selling a used Yugo can reportedly double its value simply by filling the gas tank. An urban legend highlights a defective window repair that revealed a note blaming low wages for the factory's issues. The Yugo's reputation for poor safety is underscored by a 1986 crash test where it incurred significant damage. Despite its flaws, the Yugo remains a memorable part of automotive history, with nostalgic references to its quirks and the humor it inspired.

Just like the Lada and the Skoda, the Yugo was often ridiculed.

Apparently Yugos came complete with heated rear windows to keep your hands warm when the car needed a push - just one of many jokes inspired by its questionable quality. [continued]

For those who wish to sell their used Yugo, it is said that one can double the value of the car by filling the gas tank!

There is an urban legend about a new Yugo that had a defective window in the drivers door. When the mechanic went to repair the window, he found a note stating that the window would have been finished if the factory paid its workers more.

That's too bad. Yugos have been one of the most versatile vehicles ever built:

Nice pics.

Q: What do you call a Yugo on top of a hill?

A: A "flippen" miracle.

Two guys in a Yugo were arrested last night in Oakland following a push-by shooting incident.

Sorry to see them go. Read in the paper today that some dealers in the U.S. would give away a free Yugo with the purchase of a Caddilac or Oldsmobile. In safety testing in 1986 the $3300 dollar Yugo received $2800 dollars damage in low speed crash tests! they were fun to laugh at.

I didn't even know they were still being made! :bugeye:

They're not, it's just that no one can tell the difference between a new one and a used one!
