SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the concept of gas changing state, specifically addressing the transition from gas to liquid. Participants clarify that a state variable can include pressure, volume, temperature, and internal energy. The consensus is that changing state refers to alterations in any of these variables, which can lead to a phase change. The answer to the posed question is confirmed as option 'd'.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of thermodynamics principles
  • Familiarity with state variables in physics
  • Knowledge of phase transitions
  • Basic concepts of pressure, volume, and temperature relationships
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the laws of thermodynamics
  • Study phase diagrams and their applications
  • Learn about the Clausius-Clapeyron equation
  • Explore the concept of critical points in phase transitions
USEFUL FOR

For this question:

The answer is d.

I am not sure what does it mean
"The gas is changing state?"

I refer to the book, a state variable can be pressure, volume, temperature and internal energy...So according to this understanding, can we understand as
changing state = changing either pressure OR volume OR temperature OR internal energy OR any combination of those state variables?

I think they mean changing into a liquid
