Transformers and Electric power Ltspice

Click For Summary

Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the energy conversion efficiency of a circuit involving transformers in LTspice. Participants are exploring the discrepancies in power values observed in their simulations, particularly focusing on the effects of a flyback diode on the efficiency calculations.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Technical explanation, Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant notes that with a transformer coupling coefficient (K) of 1, the input power (P1) should equal the output power (P2), but they observe that P2 is significantly smaller, achieving only 90% equality when the flyback diode is removed.
  • Other participants inquire about the file format of the LTspice simulation, suggesting that the file might be incorrectly saved with a .dox extension, which could affect accessibility.
  • There are requests for additional information, including a PDF screenshot of the circuit and analysis to better understand the issue.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants do not seem to reach a consensus regarding the cause of the power discrepancy, and the discussion includes multiple inquiries and suggestions without resolving the underlying issue.

Contextual Notes

There are limitations regarding the clarity of the circuit setup and the specific configurations used in the LTspice simulation, which may affect the analysis of power values.

Who May Find This Useful

Individuals interested in circuit simulation, transformer efficiency, and troubleshooting LTspice models may find this discussion relevant.

Hi, i was looking for the Energy conversion efficiency of my circuit in Ltspice, but i find out that my Transformers is giving me strange power values i mean with K = 1 the P1 should be equel to P2 but in my case P2 is is way too small , i get equality 90% only if get rid of the Flyback diode, can you please help me understand the reason behind this

Can you post a PDF of a screenshot of the circuit and of your analysis?
