    Stress
The 75 pound load is in the direction of the y axis, and the 125 pound load is along the x axis.In summary, the normal stress is 75/Area and not 125/Area because the 75 pound load is in the direction of the y axis while the 125 pound load is along the x axis, causing only the 75 pound load to contribute to the axial stress along the shaft. (QA) refers to the bending and shear stresses produced by the 125 pound load, but not axial stresses.

The problem

Why is the normal stress 75/Area and not 125/Area. They are both acting on the same axis so how do I know which one to choose?

And what does (QA) mean?

hard to say without more context.

I linked the problem and how it's solved, you must have missed it so here it is again

The 75 and 125 lb loads are not acting along the same axis. The 75 lb load is in the direction of the y axis, and the 125 pound load is along the x axis. Only the 75 pound load contributes to the axial stress along the shaft. The 125 pound load produces bending and shear stresses, but not axial stresses.

They're not acting along the same axis.

1. What is stress?

Stress is a natural response to a perceived threat or challenge. It is a physical and emotional reaction to a situation that is perceived as demanding or dangerous.

2. What is the difference between 75/Area and 125/Area?

75/Area and 125/Area refer to different levels of intensity or pressure in a given situation. 75/Area may be considered a moderate level of stress, while 125/Area may indicate a higher level of stress.

3. How does stress affect our bodies?

Stress can cause physical symptoms such as headaches, muscle tension, and fatigue. It can also affect our immune system, making us more susceptible to illness. Chronic stress can also increase the risk of developing certain health conditions.

4. How can we manage stress?

There are many ways to manage stress, including exercise, relaxation techniques, and seeking support from friends and family. It is also important to prioritize tasks, set realistic goals, and practice healthy habits such as getting enough sleep and eating well.

5. Is all stress bad?

No, not all stress is bad. Some level of stress can actually be beneficial and motivate us to take action and perform at our best. However, chronic or excessive stress can have negative effects on our physical and mental well-being.
