AI Thread Summary
The iOS update is being downloaded on an iPhone 5s, which is relatively new and has minimal third-party apps, reducing potential compatibility issues. The download size is 1.8GB, and initial reports indicate no major problems, with users noting improvements in battery life and minor interface changes, such as a new font and app closure screen. A specific feature of interest is the new transit option in the Maps app, currently available in select major cities like New York and London. However, some users have reported issues with devices crashing after the update, as highlighted by external reviews and news articles. Overall, the update process took about half an hour, and early experiences suggest stability with no app crashes reported.

I'm downloading it onto my iPhone 5s right now. It's only a few weeks old so I don't have a boatload of third-party apps on it that might have compatibility issues. So I decided to take a chance on it while I'm in the office and can take advantage of the fast network connection here for the 1GB download. Keeping my fingers crossed...

My girlfriend got it yesterday. No issues for her so far. It's supposed to improve battery life I think. The only differences I see are a slightly different font and a different screen when closing apps. Maybe a couple new menus.

I just updated and no problems. No apps are crashing. I don't see much difference right now. Download is 1.8GB

I got distracted and forgot to follow up... the update took about a half hour altogether, and everything seems to be running OK. I haven't used any apps enough to trip over any changes yet. One thing I did check out specifically was the new "transit" (subway/metro/commuter ) option in the Maps app. So far it works only for a few major cities: New York, Philadelphia, Washington, Chicago, San Francisco, Mexico City, London and Berlin. You'd think they'd include at least Tokyo and Beijing, too, for the initial rollout.

In my discussions elsewhere, I've noticed a lot of disagreement regarding AI. A question that comes up is, "Is AI hype?" Unfortunately, when this question is asked, the one asking, as far as I can tell, may mean one of three things which can lead to lots of confusion. I'll list them out now for clarity. 1. Can AI do everything a human can do and how close are we to that? 2. Are corporations and governments using the promise of AI to gain more power for themselves? 3. Are AI and transhumans...
Sorry if 'Profile Badge' is not the correct term. I have an MS 365 subscription and I've noticed on my Word documents the small circle with my initials in it is sometimes different in colour document to document (it's the circle at the top right of the doc, that, when you hover over it it tells you you're signed in; if you click on it you get a bit more info). Last night I had four docs with a red circle, one with blue. When I closed the blue and opened it again it was red. Today I have 3...
