What are the benefits of studying multiple engineering disciplines?

Hello, I'm a new guy that simply loves learning.

I'm going to school for Electrical engineering along with Japanese, Mandarin and Korean. On my spare time I study other areas of engineering (mechanical, nuclear and computer). Let's just say that I know MUCH more than what's required for my curriculum. lol! Nevertheless, I'm pretty sure there are others like me here as well. Nice to meet you all.
