What is electronic component R22CC1 and why is it rotating?

AI Thread Summary
The electronic component labeled "R22CC1" is identified as a vibration motor, commonly used in devices like smartphones to create haptic feedback. It operates by spinning an offset weight, which generates vibrations when the device is set to vibrate mode. Finding a specific datasheet for such components can be challenging, as many parts in consumer electronics are semicustom. Users are advised to search for functionally equivalent parts using terms like "haptic" or "vibration motor" for better results. Understanding this component's function clarifies its role in enhancing user experience through tactile feedback.

Hi guys,

I am trying to make sense of an electronic component, but have found nothing on the internet. Does anyone know what this component with the label " R22CC1" is? The half cylinder shaped part ist rotating.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Bests
Andy

That's what makes the vibrations when your phone is on vibrate. The tiny motor spins the offset weight, which shakes your phone.

It may be really hard to find a datasheet for this sort of thing. In mass consumer products, like phones, many parts are semicustom. What you can try to do is find a part that is functionally equivalent (size, mounting, voltage, etc.). If you search for vibrators, you won't get the links you want. "haptic" is a good search word to put in. Also "vibration motor".

Damn it. I totally overlooked the obvious. In German, we use to say "den Wald vor lauter Bäumen nicht sehen", which means "you do not see the forrest because of the trees". Of course, the device vibrates. Thanks so much Dave!

We on the other side of the pond also have that saying.

But I think we only use one r in 'forrest'. ;)

That was my point. A forest is a grouping of trees. Forrest is a name.
