What is the Role of Scientific Discourse in Online Communities?

I'm not a practicing physicist but I read a lot of papers, especially in astrophysics and would love to be a part of this community. I hope to learn but expect I can also point people to some interesting papers to consider.

Hello fellow Physics enthusiasts, I am an aeronautical engineering graduate (Bachelor's) who is interested in Physics and Mathematics, and I have been re-learning all the basics.
