AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the complex nature of space and the universe, questioning what constitutes "space" beyond basic definitions. It acknowledges that while concepts like relativity and quantum physics provide frameworks, the fundamental essence of space remains uncertain. Participants agree that space is not truly empty, as it contains gravity, light, and radiation fields, yet there is no definitive understanding of what space is made of. The conversation touches on the idea of an unknowable realm beyond the universe, hinting at metaphysical interpretations. Ultimately, the quest for a complete answer to the nature of space and the universe continues to be a significant challenge in scientific inquiry.

What is actually "Space"?

Sorry if you think that this is the most stupid question around, but i think its the most obvious!

What is actually this "Space" and "Universe"?

I know relativity, quantum physics, big bang , string theory etc.etc... but really this question got me!
From where is this "Space" came? I hope that u can get me, i mean i don't want a basic definition like "Space is Empty space!" , what i want is the answer to the question that " what made them and what are they in real sense".

Good question. No simple or complete answer though. The Universe is all of existence. It is characterized by certain dimensionalities...one dimension being a one-way timeline and three dimensions of space about which matter and energy can move. Space and Time are the fabric of the Universe. But it is not really known what those dimensions are "made of". Perhaps there is some fundamental particle or string or something we can point to. But for now, it's still a big uncertainty.

I may not understand your question completely so forgive me if this is "off topic." I presume that you are asking what is the ether or the empty (only a few atoms per cubic kilometers) regions inside our expanding (we assume) universe. "beyond the shell of the universe, is the realm of the unknowable (for those not "religious").

We all know that space isn't empty, there is no proof of what space is but if you like I could tell you what I think it is. Be aware that it is in the realm of the "metaphysical" with a dash of basic Quantum theory thrown in. I will continue you would like?

I agree that space is not empty. We know that gravity, light, radiatation fields, exist in space, but as Phobos said, a complete answer to what space is has not been arrived at yet.

Publication: Redox-driven mineral and organic associations in Jezero Crater, Mars Article: NASA Says Mars Rover Discovered Potential Biosignature Last Year Press conference The ~100 authors don't find a good way this could have formed without life, but also can't rule it out. Now that they have shared their findings with the larger community someone else might find an explanation - or maybe it was actually made by life.
TL;DR Summary: In 3 years, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) telescope (or rather, a system of telescopes) should be put into operation. In case of failure to detect alien signals, it will further expand the radius of the so-called silence (or rather, radio silence) of the Universe. Is there any sense in this or is blissful ignorance better? In 3 years, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) telescope (or rather, a system of telescopes) should be put into operation. This thread is dedicated to the beauty and awesomeness of our Universe. If you feel like it, please share video clips and photos (or nice animations) of space and objects in space in this thread. Your posts, clips and photos may by all means include scientific information; that does not make it less beautiful to me (n.b. the posts must of course comply with the PF guidelines, i.e. regarding science, only mainstream science is allowed, fringe/pseudoscience is not allowed). n.b.
