I'm not a big fan of reality television. Especially the idiotic shows like For Love or Money or The Player.

I do however watch Amazing Race.

Have you ever been tempted to join as a contestant on reality TV show? What show would you be best fitted for?

Sometimes when I'm watching Amazing Race, I would think to myself, "I would so dominate this game!"

I haven't seen Survivor, but I'm pretty sure I could win at that game too.

It's a quick way to gain a million bucks!

So, what reality TV show could you win at?

I wouldn't win at any of them, I'm not a petty, back-stabbing, mean-spirited, selfish jerk.

The only one I enjoyed watching was The Apprentice. I could probably get reasonably far along on that, but wouldn't have enough real business knowledge to win.

Oh, I also liked Last Comic Standing, but it was just for the stand-up comedy, which I love, so I couldn't care less if there were other silly contests in between...those were good breaks to get snacks.

None of them are that quick though. Out of curiousity, I had looked up the info about The Apprentice. Between the local, regional and national auditions, then the actual show itself, you have to make quite a time commitment and aren't even guaranteed to be on the show. And they even had contracts you had to sign before even auditioning to allow them to use your photos, etc, for advertising or any other purpose without any compensation! Didn't sound like a smart contract to sign.

OH YEAP!

Amazing Race!...I have several times imagined myself. I think that I can totally do it. It is not a very physical competition. It is ability, how well can you comunicate in other languages and a little bit of luck. I have thought several times that me and one of my friends would be a perfect couple because she knows several languages and I know others and she has travel a lot by herself.

It would be really cool to participate in Amazing Race...but Survivor...nahhh... it seems so boring...and what do you think about MTV "reality shows"?...all those people thinking that they have soffered so much when all that they have are really little traumas. You are selected for an MTV show if your parents died, if you are gay, if you are from a conservative family so people can see how you change, etc., etc.

I think Amazing Race is quite Physical. They have to run quite a bit, and the run at the end of the race is fairly long.

They do a lot of physically intense stuff, some can require large amounts of courage. The one I remember most was the detour (or was it roadblock?) that gave the contestants the choice of hiking down a mountain, or bungee jumping from the 2nd highest bungee jumping site in the world. Other stuff includes sky-diving and hang gliding.

and what do you think about MTV "reality shows"?.

I've seen 2 episodes of Real World and 2 of The Assistant (or something like that). Real World made me sick. Most of the time the contestants were completely drunk. I saw a clip where they were driving drunk.

The host for the Assistant Andy Dick, doesn't come off as funny, but vexatious and offensive.

The only one I enjoyed watching was The Apprentice. I could probably get reasonably far along on that, but wouldn't have enough real business knowledge to win.

The problem with the Apprentice is that the host, Donald Trump, isn't that great of a businessman. He's declared bankruptcy twice, and some of his hotels are struggling. I'd rather see Mark Cuban or Gates host the show.

I wouldn't last that long. I watched all of the 1st Apprentice, and there was little cooperation. Often times people rebelled against their project manager.

"For Love or Money" is the only reality show I watch. (my daughter makes fun of me for watching it) :frown:

I LOVE THAT SHOW!

Diane Sawyer (if I recall correctly) was interviewing the jurors of the Kozlowski Trial (the Tyco CEO that threw million dollar parties using company money) - where there was that one crazy lady juror. Anyway, one of the jurors related some strange but interesting anecdote, to which DS responded : "Wow ! That must have felt like you were on a reality show !" (or something to that effect).

Just the kind of thing that John Stewart (host, Daily Show) will not let slip through the cracks - his quip : "This has to be the end of civilization as we know it. Reality itself, is now being referred to as 'like a reality show'. "

What in particular, do you find appealing about the show?

Just wondering.

I'm guessing it's more about addiction and suspense than appeal - just the same way soap operas work.

- just the same way soap operas work.

I caught 1 episode, the finale. It was 2 hours. There were so many commercials! They kept on telling the viewers that the conclusion was coming up next, but it never came until 5 minutes from the end. There was nothing going on in the show, there were so many commercials I stopped watching.

That is the only reality tv I watch as well. I don't see the point in watching bimbo's and nobodies arseing around on tv, playing up to the camera, and then (especially in England) becoming Z-list celebrities.

You've never watched Amazing Race, have you?

It's amazing!

I have absolutely no idea why I like it. I guess it's the twists and turns, watching how greed affects people.

Since I have no love life, this is as close as I get to romance.
