Recently, we have had threads related to COVID-19 like containment efforts, vaccine progress, impact on jobs, etc. But I could not find a thread where people can share their experiences when they, or someone they know, have contracted the virus and recovered from the disease.

So, if you contracted SARS-CoV-2 in the near past, go ahead and share your experience. What was your reaction when you first learned that you were COVID positive? What was the attitude of your neighbours when they learned about it? Did the local authorities help you and your family during this difficult time? During the isolation period, how did you keep yourself cheerful and engaged?

You may also share the experience of someone you know who contracted and recovered from the disease, but please do so with permission from that person.

Please do not deviate from the main topic of the thread.

N.B.: I hope this topic is allowed; if not, mentors can go ahead and close this thread.[/size]

Until now I've kept my father far from COVID, and from common cold. He is 86 years old:bow:

Thread 'My experience as a hostage'
I believe it was the summer of 2001 that I made a trip to Peru for my work. I was a private contractor doing automation engineering and programming for various companies, including Frito Lay. Frito had purchased a snack food plant near Lima, Peru, and sent me down to oversee the upgrades to the systems and the startup. Peru was still suffering the ills of a recent civil war and I knew it was dicey, but the money was too good to pass up. It was a long trip to Lima; about 14 hours of airtime...
