Who does Finite Element Modelling?

AI Thread Summary
Finite Element Modelling (FEM) is typically handled by professionals such as mechanical engineers, building engineers, or mathematicians, depending on the specific application. The task can vary in complexity, making it essential to find someone with the right expertise. Consulting firms specializing in FEM can be a viable option for small companies lacking in-house capabilities. Freelance engineers are also available for hire, providing flexibility for project-based needs. Utilizing these resources can help implement effective finite element solutions in CAD software.

Hi

Could anyone point me in the right direction?

I'm employed at a small firm, only three employees at the time being. Our competencies spans from architecture to programming. We're in need of somebody who can help us create a finite element solution which we can implement in the cad software we use.

Who does Finite Element modelling? A building engineer? A Mathematician?

I'm a beginner at both math and physics so I don't know if making a finite element model of a system is a complicated task or if its easy for a professional?

Usually mechanical engineers have this interest and expertise. You might google for a consulting company that specializes in FEM and farm your work out to them.

Within mechanical engineers, they would have their expertise...In my company we have guys that do structural/deformation/fatigue/crack analysis, and we have different set of guys that do fluid dynamics. Then, of course, you have the electrical engineer that might need to do electromagnetic/electrostatic analysis, etc.

Thanks for the answers. I found two solutions. One was a site where I can hire freelance engineers for a project. I found several guys that does Finite Element Analysis. Or else I can use on of the renowned companies.

Thread 'How can I find the cleanout for my building drain?'
I am a long distance truck driver, but I recently completed a plumbing program with Stratford Career Institute. In the chapter of my textbook Repairing DWV Systems, the author says that if there is a clog in the building drain, one can clear out the clog by using a snake augur or maybe some other type of tool into the cleanout for the building drain. The author said that the cleanout for the building drain is usually near the stack. I live in a duplex townhouse. Just out of curiosity, I...
Hi all, I have a question. So from the derivation of the Isentropic process relationship PV^gamma = constant, there is a step dW = PdV, which can only be said for quasi-equilibrium (or reversible) processes. As such I believe PV^gamma = constant (and the family of equations) should not be applicable to just adiabatic processes? Ie, it should be applicable only for adiabatic + reversible = isentropic processes? However, I've seen couple of online notes/books, and...
