AI Thread Summary
The discussion revolves around a guessing game where participants identify individuals based on hints and images. Initially, a photo of an ID badge prompts speculation about a person related to dinosaurs and the Kennedy assassination. Participants suggest various figures, ultimately identifying Luis Alvarez, known for his work on the K-T boundary layer and mass extinctions. The conversation highlights Alvarez's contributions to science, including his investigations into the effects of bullets on the human head. Following this, another guessing round begins with hints leading to Ishi, the last Yahi, which is also successfully identified. The playful banter among participants adds a light-hearted tone to the game.

I thought we might try another variation of "What was it?".

But what happened ?

Hint: Dinosaurs

Mister Rogers' younger brother?

What makes you think so ?

I don't think so. That was my way of asking for another hint.

Did he study dinosaurs, or are you just saying that he's old?

I think both. Human beings actually evolve from "things".

What hint are you asking for ? I really don't understand the op's question at all ?

 This is a game. We're supposed to guess who the person is.

Luis Alvarez!

Yep!

Iridium in the K-T Boundary layer recognized which lead to the theory of meteor impacts as the source of mass extinctions.

Investigated the effect of bullets on the head and showed that a head can and will lunge in the direction from which the bullet entered. He shot watermelons, among other things.

The first picture is Alvarez's ID badge photo from Los Alamos.

Correct!

I had a friend who lived right next to the spot where he was found. A monument stands there that tells a bit of the story.
