Why Do Some Accept the Concept of Divine Torture Despite Personal Abhorrence?

Torture and crime are reported almost daily in the news. What kind of individual would willingly make others suffer in such horrible ways? Most people find the idea of torturing another human being appalling, almost beyond imagination. Why, then, do so many accept the idea that their God would willingly inflict punishment and torture on people who are sent to the fires of Hell?

the universe works in mysterious ways. those people will pay in the future and the ones who have died by their hands will be in a better place or come back in a better form.
