Can someone explain me why dc motor is self starting differ of ac who is not self starting motor?
A DC motor is self-starting due to its commutator, which allows direct current to flow in the armature, creating a continuous torque. In contrast, an AC single-phase induction motor lacks this feature, resulting in an induced alternating current in the rotor that does not generate sufficient starting torque. This fundamental difference in operation explains why DC motors can initiate movement without external assistance, while AC motors require additional mechanisms for starting.
