Every time we get new technology we seem to suffer a huge amount of waste of money and resources on competing standards.

The latest to appear is the connection for Electric Vehicles.

There are (at least) three such standards

JEVS G 105-1993

IEC 61851

SAE J1772

I'm guessing SAE is in the Americas, IEC is in the EU, ... where is JEVS from?

SAC has nothing to do with the FBI, SAC = Society of Automotive Engineers (America)

Edit: should have been SAE, but it sounds better that way than stamped addressed envelope.

JEVS = Japan electric vehicle standard ( a consortium of japanese auto manufacturers in consortium with Tokoyo Electric Power Co)

IEC = Intenational Electrotechnical Commision ( rest of the world)
