What are the broad principles of physics that I can understand as a non-expert?

I don't have any formal education beyond GCSE O-level, and I don't have the math to achieve a proper understanding of Physics - I'm just aiming for an enhanced layman's understanding of the broad principles. I've always been fascinated by Physics, even if I am only some hairy-legged guitar picker from South London! I have so many questions - even if I only get to find out why my questions don't even make sense, I'll have learned something, which will make me happy.
