How much an adult man's femur and humerus weigh?

In summary, the average weight of an adult man's femur is approximately 2.5 pounds (1.1 kilograms) and the average weight of his humerus is around 2.2 pounds (1 kilogram). These weights can vary depending on factors such as age, height, and overall body composition. The femur and humerus are two of the longest and strongest bones in the body, with the femur being slightly heavier than the humerus. Factors that can affect the weight of these bones include age, height, overall body weight and composition, and physical activity level. As individuals age, their bones may become less dense and lose some weight, but factors such as physical activity and nutrition can help maintain bone density and weight

Hi.

It seems the dry weight and fresh weight of each human bones aren't the same, for example the dry weight and fresh weight of a man's humerus and femur aren't the same and very different. What is the dry weight and fresh weight of a man's humerus and femur?

Can you think of a reason why a person's bones, ripped from the living flesh, might weight more than when they are dried out? (Hint: what does 'to dry' mean?)

He's asking for the weights, not why they differ.

Can someone give some answers and opinions?

Related to How much an adult man's femur and humerus weigh?

1. What is the average weight of an adult man's femur and humerus?

The average weight of an adult man's femur is approximately 2.5 pounds (1.1 kilograms) and the average weight of his humerus is around 2.2 pounds (1 kilogram). However, these weights can vary depending on factors such as age, height, and overall body composition.

2. How does the weight of an adult man's femur and humerus compare to other bones in the body?

The femur and humerus are two of the longest and strongest bones in the human body. In comparison, the average weight of the skull is about 4.4 pounds (2 kilograms), the rib cage is about 5.5 pounds (2.5 kilograms), and the pelvis is about 2.5 pounds (1.1 kilograms).

3. What factors can affect the weight of an adult man's femur and humerus?

Some factors that can affect the weight of an adult man's femur and humerus include age, height, overall body weight and composition, and physical activity level. For example, individuals who are taller and have a higher muscle mass may have slightly heavier bones.

4. Is there a significant difference in weight between the femur and humerus?

In general, the femur tends to be slightly heavier than the humerus in adult men. This is because the femur is the largest and strongest bone in the body, responsible for supporting much of the body's weight and movement. However, the difference in weight between the two bones is relatively small.

5. How does the weight of an adult man's femur and humerus change with age?

As individuals age, their bones tend to become less dense and may lose some weight. This is especially true for postmenopausal women and older adults. However, it is important to note that factors such as physical activity and nutrition can also play a role in maintaining bone density and weight as we age.
