Intermediate Level Astronomy Textbooks?

In summary, recommended background knowledge for studying intermediate level astronomy includes a strong foundation in basic physics and mathematics, as well as a solid understanding of introductory astronomy concepts. Intermediate level astronomy textbooks cover topics such as stellar evolution, galaxy formation, cosmology, and advanced observational techniques. Some popular textbooks for this level include "An Introduction to Modern Astrophysics" and "Stars and Galaxies". While some textbooks may include hands-on activities or experiments, it is important to check for supplemental materials or online resources. Many textbooks also offer online resources and study aids, such as practice quizzes and interactive simulations, to help reinforce concepts and prepare for exams.

Hi all:

I am looking for an astronomy textbook that is a bit above the level of most textbooks used in intro level astronomy courses but also not too advanced.

I would really like a book that focuses on observational astronomy.

If its available to be downloaded for free as a PDF that would be even better.

Thank you
