Download or watch?
Video, or front-end player?
There are many instances of Invidious.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invidious
Code:
For example, the YouTube video;
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMY5PCCjdlE
Becomes;
https://yewtu.be/watch?v=IMY5PCCjdlE
If the video does not run, there is an option to open another instance of Invidious.

So you are asking about how to download YouTube videos in general, with no considerations to current legal issues because you are only going to download old videos that may not have issues. Nope.

1. Is it legal to download videos from YouTube?

Downloading videos from YouTube is generally against the site's terms of service unless the video has a download link or feature directly provided by YouTube, such as videos that are part of the YouTube Premium service where downloading is allowed for offline viewing. Downloading content without permission can infringe copyright laws, depending on your country's regulations.

2. What are some common methods to download videos from YouTube?

Common methods for downloading YouTube videos include using third-party websites, software applications, or browser extensions. These tools typically require you to paste the URL of the YouTube video into their interface, and they will process and provide a link to download the video in various formats and qualities.

3. Can downloading YouTube videos lead to malware or viruses?

Yes, there is a risk of malware or viruses when using third-party tools to download YouTube videos. Some websites and applications may not be secure or might distribute harmful software unintentionally or intentionally. It is crucial to use reputable and well-reviewed tools and to have updated antivirus software installed on your device.

4. What are the risks of using third-party websites to download YouTube videos?

Aside from potential malware and virus risks, using third-party websites can also expose you to unwanted ads, pop-ups, and deceptive links that might lead to phishing sites. There's also the risk of violating copyright laws, as many of these services operate in legal grey areas.

5. Are there any safe and legal alternatives to downloading YouTube videos?

One legal and safe alternative is subscribing to YouTube Premium, which allows you to download videos directly within the YouTube app for offline viewing. Another option is to use screen recording tools to capture the video as it plays on your screen, though this method may also be subject to legal restrictions depending on the content and how it is used.
