Progressive Wave: Solve Puzzle at Point P

In summary, a progressive wave is a type of wave that travels through a medium, causing the particles to oscillate in a perpendicular direction. The puzzle at point P is a visual representation of a progressive wave and can be solved using real-life examples. The purpose of solving the puzzle is to better understand the properties and behaviors of progressive waves and improve problem-solving skills. There is no one specific strategy for solving the puzzle, but a combination of trial and error and understanding of progressive waves is necessary.

The answer is B but I don't understand how. Surely, the string at point P is moving upwards.
This video gave a solution but the part that they have indicated as down is a different part of the string and not P.

P is stationary and the wavefront is moving to the right hence P moves downward the wave reflects how the string is shaped.

P is attached to the string and the wave moves along the string but the elements of the string are stationary in a horizontal sense that is they don't move left and right.
