A Contact Angle of Immiscible Liquids in a Tube

I am interested in the contact angle itself as I already have measured the interfacial tension (but not in the same cylindrical tube). I have not been able to find any information on measuring the contact angle of immiscible liquids inside a tube. It seems all the focus of measuring contact...

Measuring contact angle of immiscible liquids

I am looking for sources which describe how to measure the contact angle between immiscible liquids in a tube. The literature seems to be extremely lacking so if anyone has any knowledge I would appreciate the help.

A Contact Angle of Immiscible Liquids in a Tube

I'm having trouble finding any sources which describe how to accurately measure the contact angle between immiscible liquids in a tube. Any help would be appreciated.

Does Bromine (Br2) dissolve in water?

Having trouble finding specifics about solubility of Bromine in water. I've read that it will not dissolve if present in small amounts. How much is small amounts? Also, what about Iodine (I2) and Fluorine (F2). In specific, I am looking for a nonpolar solute to increase the density of oil and...

Can Boric Acid or Detergents Increase the Density of Silicone Oil?

Hi everyone, I am looking for a way to densify silicone oil. Foolishly, I tried to dissolve Calcium Chloride but as well all know, salt will not dissolve in oil. If anyone has any knowledge as to how I can increase the density of silicone oil I would greatly appreciate your input.

MATLAB How to calculate stress on a beam using MATLAB?

I know what MATLAB is and what it is capable of. I did not forget the dimensions of the hollow portion, I left it out on purpose. I do not know how to make a figure of this beam in MATLAB and show where the load is being applied. I can get this help without mentioning those dimensions. And...

Amount of salt needed to achieve a specific density of soln?

Yea kindergarten for sure. I was trying to say that you can't really know that a substance is pure. All these materials will go through a beaker and then a bucket and then a larger bucket and then a long pipe and then some tubing. The materials will no longer be 'pure'. You can't just use what...

MATLAB How to calculate stress on a beam using MATLAB?

Hey all, I want to calculate the stress and strain on a beam using MATLAB and I would also like to make a stress-strain curve as well. The problem is as follows: I have a hollow rectangular aluminum beam that is fixed at both ends. I have the material properties and the dimensions of the beam...

Amount of salt needed to achieve a specific density of soln?

I agree, but how can one be sure that they are using pure substances? In theory, there is no 'mine' or 'theirs', but in this case, there definitely is.

Amount of salt needed to achieve a specific density of soln?

Yea you are right but the problem is that the density of their water might be slightly different from my water. And the density of their salt might be different from my salt. I honestly though that there was some mathematical way of solving this problem but I guess I'll have to make my table...

Amount of salt needed to achieve a specific density of soln?

Could you explain where the +-.0005 is coming from? From interpolation I can find an approximate concentration, but then I have no idea how to get the density of the solution without actually measuring it

Amount of salt needed to achieve a specific density of soln?

Yea so if you use the Atwood number equation you will see that I need a density of 1.071 g/cm^3 theoretically. Simply put, I want to achieve this theoretical density and I cannot figure out the concentration of salt needed in a saltwater solution. Rather than having an pretty good estimate, I...

Amount of salt needed to achieve a specific density of soln?

I've both interpolated and curve fitting and both these methods are not sufficiently accurate. The result you give seems to be a bit low. From interpolation I get 106.4 g/l and from curve fitting i get closer to 106.8 g/l. Either way both these numbers will give me slightly different densities...

Amount of salt needed to achieve a specific density of soln?

It needs to be fairly accurate. As in my original post, you can see Atwood number is a ratio of the densities of two fluids. I need an Atwood of 0.035. If water is one of my fluids (density of approximately 0.999 g/cm^3) and saltwater solution is my other fluid, I can calculate what the density...

Amount of salt needed to achieve a specific density of soln?

The experiment I'm conducting is done in a lab which is usually between 20 and 21 deg C. I have found some data in literature, however many texts use only one set of density of just plain water. As in, they say the density of the water they used is 1 g/cm^3. Whereas the water that I have been...
