    Discharging a P-Channel MOSFET quickly

Thanks again for the input Tom. I had another question more from a theoretical vs. applied point of view: Is it possible to have an NPN transistor be in the linear region, never saturated, if the emitter is connected to ground, the base to a resistor (which goes to your signal or something)...

    Discharging a P-Channel MOSFET quickly

Quick question Tom, is there some circuit that can take a pulse that goes from, say 0 to +V and makes it go from. -V to V? to ? I'll be looking through the analog circuit indexes but thought you might know the name of such a circuit off hand. Thanks in advance

    Discharging a P-Channel MOSFET quickly

Wow, thanks! This definitely will keep me busy for quite a while. I had been looking up "List of analog circuits" with much poorer results.

    Discharging a P-Channel MOSFET quickly

I made it work with an extra NPN transistor. Apparently just adding the totem pole will invert the output. Thanks again though, is there some document that lists common circuits in analog and power along with their name?

    Discharging a P-Channel MOSFET quickly

Thanks a lot Tom. I sometimes struggle finding information due to not knowing the terminology, I'll be sure to remember this though. Thanks again.

    Discharging a P-Channel MOSFET quickly

I am using trying to familiarize myself with P-Channel mosfets since I don't have too much experience with them. I am trying to use the FET as a switch, being driven in the typical highside FET manner using an NPN transistor. Is there some standard way of quickly discharging the FET during turn...

Master in Physics vs. Bachelors in Engineering?

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone knows of some schools that offer online masters in EE specializing in power electronics. So far the only ones I can find only are UC boulder, USC, and U of Wisconsin madison. Apart from these it seems like most are just EE programs without the...

Series Pass Regulator Design Guide: Transfer Function & Compensation

So, coming back to my original question, are there any books specifically for designing linear regulators (including compensation/control)? I keep finding plenty of books entirely on SMPS but none strictly for linear regulators. There are some white papers here and there but not any rigorous...

What happens if you use Tesla coil to charge a capacitor?

Well, if you're speaking from a purely ideal point of view and completely disregard safety and part acquisition I can help with the "What would happen if capacitance was really high?" portion of your post. Other members, please feel free to correct me because I will learn from it as well. The...

Series Pass Regulator Design Guide: Transfer Function & Compensation

Thanks for all the input Jim, Yeah I went through and re-read line by line and when I saw that 80db assumed gain I thought "dang it I should have read closer from the beginning and saved a lot of work" I think I got it now though, I tried a simulation and everything makes sense, I have a great...

Series Pass Regulator Design Guide: Transfer Function & Compensation

Well, I don't have anything particular in mind, which is why I was looking for a book or something generalized. Maybe some sort of technique? The best I've found is this article: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/snva020b/snva020b.pdfI completely understand what they're doing up until the point where...

Series Pass Regulator Design Guide: Transfer Function & Compensation

Yes, sorry for being vague. I would like to make a series pass linear regulator using discrete components.

Series Pass Regulator Design Guide: Transfer Function & Compensation

Does anyone know of any good references for a detailed guide designing a series pass regulator along with compensation? I'm having some trouble getting the plant transfer function and would really benefit from some book or video or application note on this topic. Even an older thread on...

Alternate derivation of output capacitor ripple voltage buck

Homework Statement I'm trying to find the output voltage ripple of a buck converter by using just the waveforms and the inductor ripple. Homework Equations [/B] I know that the answer is supposed to be D(1-D)Vin/(16*L*C*f^2) but I keep getting D(1-D)Vin/(8*L*C*f^2)The equations I end up...
