Control theory: process given, PID settings
Homework Statement Problem: We want a closed loop control loop for the given process (see bode plot), the control loop requirements are: Steady state error needs to be zero. The gain margin needs to be infinite. The phase margin needs to be 40 degrees. Questions: Which controller will be...- Engineer_s

Finite Element Method: Linear vs. Quadratic Elements & DOF
Homework Statement Linear and quadratic elements differ because of the extra mid-nodes on quadratic elements. Quadratic elements can "bend", linear can't. How do you define the DOF of a element? (see at solution attempt)Homework Equations - The Attempt at a Solution For example: a linear...- Engineer_s

Calculating displacement and energy in a structure
Homework Statement The problem is, calculate the energy and displacement of the structure. What is the displacement (y) in the middle of the beam? See drawing and variables in attached PDF file. Homework Equations See PDF file. Important: To form the moment function M(x), I use delta...- Engineer_s

Integration method (Navier) calculating deflection
Topic can be closed. Problem solved. Problem was my moment was positieve and it had to be negative. Thanks for your help.- Engineer_s

Integration method (Navier) calculating deflection
Yes, you are right. I made a mistake with my conventions. Look at my new PDF, that is the method I used. Normally the moment expression is now correct. Do you agree with my method/calculation now or not? Thanks for your help. Comment: I used a yellow remarker but it is hardly visible.- Engineer_s

Integration method (Navier) calculating deflection
Thanks for your reply. The convention is added beside the drawing. Positive is anticlockwise for me. M1 is negative but if you cut the beam at let say an distance x from the wall you'll have a moment equal to M1 but in the opposite direction to cancel M1 out and to reach an equilibrium...- Engineer_s

Integration method (Navier) calculating deflection
Homework Statement A beam is given with a constant load. Calculate the deflection at the end of the beam. Use the integration method or method of navier with delta functions. Homework Equations See equations in my attached file. The Attempt at a Solution The red load you see on the drawing is...- Engineer_s
