Undergrad Wear rates and friction of plastics
I definitely will look at Vespel, thanks. The good part about the bearing-shaft setup is that it won't rotate like a wheel bearing, it will just move up and down slightly (its own weight is the only load)- to allow for measurement of changes of web thickness- from 0 to 10 mils. Thanks again. -

Undergrad Wear rates and friction of plastics
I am looking to replace a set of brass and steel sleeve and cylinder having a ceramic tip with a plastic sleeve and cylinder having a plastic tip. The only question I have actually has two parts... are there any plastic, machineable materials that have comparable wear rates to that of ceramic... -

High School How do I reduce the coeff. of friction against water?
hello, i need to coat the bottom of a plastic model boat that will be moving against water with something that will reduce the coefficient of friction. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. p.s. household items would be best, I need it by tomorrow -

Formula for allowable wall thickness
its actually pretty much a thick-walled pipe like you first thought. It only has a series of blades in the middle of the piece. the greatest safe load, as is, is around 2700 pounds. thanks.- es_shoes

Formula for allowable wall thickness
I need to determine the minimum wall thickness for 1018 CRS for a knife blade. I know the moment, max deflection, greatest safe load, yield strength, MOE, length, density, current wall thickness, etc. However, I can not find a general formula connecting yield strength to wall thickness...- es_shoes
