Not sure if applicable here but I was doing some reading on ITER the fusion reactor. I have read about "Test Blanket Modules" being designed by both China and the United States. I understand that these blanket modules will be used to surround the reactor however I was wondering if these test...
Hi,
Ive been doing some reading into 1 dimensional plasma numerical simulations and they keep referring to solving for a "self-consistent" field. If the simulation is in one dimension with periodic boundary conditions, how would I go about solving this electric field?
Example:
dE/dx =...
Hi, I am beginning to learn FORTRAN and am a bit confused with the error i am getting. Here is my code:
program main
IMPLICIT NONE
integer :: limit
WRITE(*,*) "Please enter limit: "
READ(*,*) limit
integer :: allnums(limit)
!
! do i=1,limit
!
! allnums(i) = 0

! end do...
Hi,
So I have taken a math course dealing with the mathematics behind GR. In it I learnd how to calculate many of the objects that GR deals with such as curvature tensors, geodesics and so on. However, not much physical explination into how these object tie into gravity was discussed (due...
ok that sort of worked. I added a 100uF capacitor then after the capacitor a 1k resistor to ground. In doing this the first output waveform had no more DC voltage, but this also messed up my second output of the BJT network. Now then output from the BJT is just 0 V with negative peaks but no...
Hi,
I am designing a circuit where i first use a JFET transistor to a provide a voltage gain, the JFET is wired as a self bias. Following the JFET is a BJT transistor which i am using to provide a second amplification. I have an issue though with the output waveform of the JFET transistor...
Homework Statement
Considering a rotation around the z-axis, show that the Electric and Magnetic fields fields transform as ordinary vectors.
Homework Equations
The Attempt at a Solution
Could someone please clarify for me I'm not sure what they mean by "transform as an ordinary...
Hey
When someone says that spacetime is stretched or compressed, is it meant to be taken literally? If so how would one determine which areas of spacetime are thicker/thinner
(i know we can look at the metric but I am talking about experimentally how would we know)? Or is this just another...
Hey so I've started learning some cosmology and i have a question about the expanding universe.
So i was told to picture a 3D graph with time on the vertical axis and space making a plane perpendicular to the vertical. I am using the metric where the diagonals are (1,-a,-a,-a) where a is a...
O i see now, thanks a lot that last post cleared up a lot of confusion i had. Its not that i found your posts confusing but its just i am getting used to all of the mathematical notations and such. I'm self teaching myself and only have first year calculus/ linear algebra carrying me so getting...
Thanks a lot! that is correct, and i think the book made a typo because i re-checked the answer and they didnt even list a value for M_01. The metric tensor is always symmetric too so you second solution is correct.
Could you just help me out a bit. I'm new to this Tensor stuff.
What do...
For the 'relevant equations' i posted then X can equal anything because it is just a general equation. In this case however i think you are right where X=x'. But I'm still having trouble understanding the equation in general.
And i thought that for the proper time the metric is...
To get my answers all i did was take the O' equations and used eq'n 1.
For M_11 i did (dt'/dt^2) + (dx'/dt)^2 + (dy'/dt)^2 + (dz/dt)^2
then M_22 the same thing wrt to dx
M_33 wrt dy
M_44 wrt dz
I not really sure were u were going with all the hyperbolic stuff...
