High School Can a stiffer spring help my Newton Scooter travel 1.5 meters?
I am trying to construct a Newton Scooter (one powered by Newton's Third Law) using a spring. Basically, I am supposed to make the scooter travel 1.5 meters. I've tried using a spring from a retractable pen, but the vehicle I constructed seems to be going nowhere. It seems as though too much...- islandboy401

The Sum of a series with exponents
Thanks for all the hints...but now, I have another problem. I obtained an answer of 50/3...however, the solution booklet says the answer is 20/3... Here is my work: Is this a typo in the manual, or is my answer truly wrong? If so, please tell me where I messed up.- islandboy401

The Sum of a series with exponents
I have factored out the k=1 term...yet, I still do not know exactly what to do. I wrote out the series for both the numerator and the denominator, yet I do not see what to do next. Here is my work: Another hint at the problem solving process will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.- islandboy401

Undergrad Can the Nth Derivative Formula for ln(x) Be Extended to ln(x+c)?
Is there a formula or a method to derive the nth derivative of ln (x+c)...(where c is any number...such as 1, 2, 3, etc)? I know that there is a formula for the nth derivative of ln x, but I was wondering if this formula can be extended to one we can use when we are dealing with the nth...- islandboy401
