Help with velocity vs, time graph
Okay, so if he is waiting at a traffic light, his velocity should=0. Time is still passing, so its a straight line but it sits on top of the x-axis (y=0). When he accelerates, his velocity will raise over time, so that's a positive diagonal line. Now he is cruising at a constant velocity. That's...- Londoncalling

Slope of an Energy with Friction Graph?
Just so I can understand this--is this because friction would be taking away from both sides of the equation? Why "essentially" no change?- Londoncalling

Slope of an Energy with Friction Graph?
Homework Statement An object is pulled at a constant F. KE0+PE0=0, so W=PE+KE. If there were no friction, the slope of a graph (KE+PE=Y-axis, W=X-axis) would be 1 and the y-intercept would be 0. What would the addition of friction do to the slope and y intercept (would the y intercept be more...- Londoncalling

How Fast Does a Ball Roll Off a Table?
1. The Lab The ball reaches the end of the table in .178584 s, a distance of 14.016 cm. The table is 86.49 cm tall. What is the ball's velocity and far will it roll?Homework Equations y=vit+.5(g)(t)2 x=vtThe Attempt at a Solution I assumed vi was 0 and got that time=4.201, but that didn't seem...- Londoncalling

How High Is the Diving Platform?
So it's 9.604 m high then? Edit: Yes, I got it right! Thank you SO much, you have no idea how relieved I am. Would you be able to help me with another problem (it's in a different post)...?- Londoncalling

How High Is the Diving Platform?
Okay so -y=vi -.5*9.8*1.42. Then -y=vi*1.4-(4.9*1.96) -y=vi*1.4-(9.604) But there are 2 variables and only one equation... I thought you couldn't do that...?- Londoncalling

Components of Projectile Motion
1. The problem A ball is thrown from a 19m building and hits the ground 98.2 m away. Gravity = 9.8 m/s2. Find the intial velocity as well as x and y components of the ball just before it hits the ground Homework Equations I found time=1.969149822.- Londoncalling

How High Is the Diving Platform?
Homework Statement You jump off a diving board with a horizontal velocity of 1.81 and land in the water 1.4 seconds later. Gravity=9.8. How high is this platform? Homework Equations x=2.534, if that helps. The Attempt at a Solution I got 7.07 but this is not right...- Londoncalling
