A thin uniform bar, hanging, is hit by a ball. Find the angular velocity
Homework Statement A thin, uniform metal bar, 3m long and weighing 75N, is hanging veritcally from the ceiling by a frictionless pivot. Suddenly it is struck 1.3m below the ceiling by a small 2 kg clay ball, initially traveling horizontally at 14m/s. The ball sticks to the bar Find the...- Phys121VIU

Find acceleration vector of a car travelling on a circular path
I see, its traveling at constant velocity so it is the same all along the arc. velocity = d / t = 235m / 36.0s = 6.53m/s and with that, the radial acceleration can be found : arad = v2 / r = (6.53m/s)2 / 149.6m = 0.285 m/s2 = 0.285 m/s2 \hat{i} Thank you! EDIT***...- Phys121VIU

Car changing speed around a corner - find tangential and radial accel
How would I find the angle of the expected radial accel vector with just the knowledge of the total accel vector being 20° north of east? Are the tangential accel and radial accel vectors perpendicular to each other? Therefore making it possible to use sin/cosine laws to find the missing...- Phys121VIU

Car changing speed around a corner - find tangential and radial accel
Homework Statement A car changes speed as it turns from traveling due south to heading due east. When exactly halfway around the curve, the cars velocity is 19m/s at 45° south of east. At this moment, the cars total acceleration is 3.0 m/s2 at 20° north of east. Calculate the radial and...- Phys121VIU

Undergrad Matrix Multiplication to translate object with given vertices
Thanks for this! Ok i am beginning to understand this question..To translate, say the top point of the object, \begin{bmatrix}-1 \\ 3\end{bmatrix} to the new coordinate \begin{bmatrix}2 \\ 5\end{bmatrix} i would use \begin{bmatrix}1 & 0 & 3 \\ 0 & 1 & 2 \\ 0 & 0 &...- Phys121VIU

Undergrad Matrix Multiplication to translate object with given vertices
This was a question for a test of mine. I am unsure how to translate the object from the left image(Fig.1) to the right (Fig.2). I am to use matrix multiplication.. Do i start with the vertices in Fig.1 as a matrix, as in |0 -1 -2 0 -2 -1 | ...............|0 0 0 2 2 3 | (I...- Phys121VIU

Equilibrium of three suspended blocks
I got it figured out, I was definitely over thinking it. The tension in the ropes are equal to the weight of the blocks, so rope AB is 200lb and AC is 100lb. Then I find the Sum of forces for X and Y and solve for the unknowns! Thanks!- Phys121VIU
