Homework Statement
The nominal food-energy value of 1.00g of butter is about 7.20 food calories.
If all this energy could be converted completely to mechanical energy, how much butter would be required to power a 65.0kg mountaineer on her journey from Lupine Meadows (elevation 2070m) to the...
The problem is, that the final solution is asking for a set height in meters. I tried plugging in 9.81 for gravity and solving for h and leaving v0 in there, but to no avail (Its a computer system that i need to input the answers to, and it just tells me that the answer does not use v0 in it)...

A solid uniform marble is rolling without slipping when it approaches the base of a hill with a speed v0.
Find the maximum height above the base that this marble will reach if the hill is rough enough to prevent slipping.

Yup... I see what i did wrong... in every calculation i did i was thinking cylinder for I instead of sphere. Thank you. And yes I do have to find the KE which turns out to be 1.45J
Thanks again for the help,

Homework Statement
Calculate the angular momentum of a solid uniform sphere with a radius of 0.120m and a mass of 14.0kg if it is rotating at 6.00rad/s about an axis through its center.
Homework Equations
Angular Momentum = I * w
I = mass*radius2/2
w = 6.00rad/s

Find the radius R of the orbit of a geosynchronous satellite that circles the earth. (Note that R is measured from the center of the earth, not the surface.)

These are what I would assume this equation is going to use.
F = GmM/r2
F = mv2/r

Well i would assume that her velocity is at its maximum when her potential energy is 0, which is at the bottom of the swing. We can figure out her potential energy by using the Conservation of energy and some trig:
She hangs 3m from the top of the swing set, therefore we'll set our y-coord 0...

A 50.0kg stunt pilot who has been diving her airplane vertically pulls out of the dive by changing her course to a circle in a vertical plane.
If the plane's speed at the lowest point of the circle is 95.0m/s, what should the minimum radius of the circle be in order for...

An automobile air bag cushions the force on the driver in a head-on collision by absorbing her energy before she hits the steering wheel. Such a bag can be modeled as an elastic force, similar to that produced by a spring.
Calculate the effective force constant k of the air...
Well if you are given or know the answer (.24), you can reverse the problem from there to find the force that is needed to get that coefficient of friction.
~~(I know that in a normal assignment you won't know the answer, but this is good experience to see what is going wrong on this...
