I am wondering if this is possible.
The discussion revolves around whether the Thevenin voltage (VTH) can exceed the source voltage (VS) in an electrical circuit. Participants explore the definitions and measurements of these voltages, the implications of reactive versus resistive components, and the role of circuit diagrams in understanding these concepts. The conversation includes elements of theoretical understanding and practical application in circuit analysis.
Participants express varying levels of understanding regarding the relationship between VTH and VS, with some indicating that VTH cannot exceed VS while others suggest it might be possible under certain conditions. The discussion remains unresolved, with multiple competing views on the topic.
Participants highlight the importance of understanding the definitions and measurements of voltages in circuits, as well as the potential complexities introduced by reactive and resistive components. There are indications of missing assumptions regarding the nature of the circuit in question.
This discussion may be useful for beginners in electrical engineering or physics who are trying to understand Thevenin's theorem, voltage sources, and circuit analysis. It may also benefit those interested in the nuances of reactive versus resistive components in circuits.

How is VS measured?
dimsum1 said:VS is 40, given, i just need to know if its possible or not

Well, if you don't know what VS is then that will be a problem.I didn't answer your question because I don't know how to answer them, I am just a beginner
Simon Bridge said:Anyway - I think you are starting to get the idea about the role played by the voltage source.
dimsum1 said:The only thing I got out of that is voltage sources may not be ideal, nvm, I give up, what ever comes out of you does not help me at all.
I still know the same amount of things from the beginning of my post, so no, I did not "start to get", I said that in my previous post. I'm starting to wonder if we are even on the same wave here.
Apparently simple words is to much to ask for.
Guess this forum isn't meant for beginners, might as well talk to a bowl of sliced potatoes.
Thanks for trying though, thumbs up for your effort.
