AI Thread Summary
The issue described involves a DSL internet connection that experiences interruptions whenever a phone call is made, specifically when the phone is turned off after a call. This problem has persisted for about four months, despite previously functioning without issues. The presence of phone filters is noted, but their effectiveness is in question. To troubleshoot, it is recommended to disconnect all devices from the phone line except for one phone and test for the problem. If the issue continues, swapping the existing DSL filter with another or purchasing a new filter may help determine if the filter is faulty and causing the internet disruptions.

Something weird is happening to my internet. I have DSL and broadband as a phone company, my router is a d-link. Anyways, a couple of months ago nothing would happen when the phone rang, but now everytime the phone rings and gets turned off (after ending a call turning off the phone), my internet gets cut off for about 30 seconds, then comes back on. I don't know why its doing it now it never did it before and now all of a sudden, maybe for about 4months now its been doing it. I have no clue why and I have phone filters and such. ANybody know why?

Maybe you have a bad DSL filter...

If it happens every time a phone call is made disconnect all devices on the phone line (phones, fax machines, etc) except for one phone. Make a phone call using the connected phone and see if the problem exists. If the problem still exists try swapping the DSL filter for the phone with one of the other filters and make another phone call. You may even want to purchase a new filter so you know it's good and see if you still have the problem.

This week, I saw a documentary done by the French called Les sacrifiés de l'IA, which was presented by a Canadian show Enquête. If you understand French I recommend it. Very eye-opening. I found a similar documentary in English called The Human Cost of AI: Data workers in the Global South. There is also an interview with Milagros Miceli (appearing in both documentaries) on Youtube: I also found a powerpoint presentation by the economist Uma Rani (appearing in the French documentary), AI...
Thread 'Urgent: Physically repair - or bypass - power button on Asus laptop'
Asus Vivobook S14 flip. The power button is wrecked. Unable to turn it on AT ALL. We can get into how and why it got wrecked later, but suffice to say a kitchen knife was involved: These buttons do want to NOT come off, not like other lappies, where they can snap in and out. And they sure don't go back on. So, in the absence of a longer-term solution that might involve a replacement, is there any way I can activate the power button, like with a paperclip or wire or something? It looks...
