AI Thread Summary
Hogzilla, a purported 12-foot-long wild hog killed on a plantation in ALAHAPA, Georgia, has become a local legend. The plantation owner claims the hog weighed 1,000 pounds and had 9-inch tusks, but evidence is limited to a single photo showing the hog hanging from a rope. The authenticity of the photo is questioned, as only the plantation owner has reportedly seen the hog, raising doubts about the claims. While large wild hogs do exist, the story of Hogzilla may be exaggerated, blending fact with folklore. The lack of concrete evidence leaves its true existence uncertain, yet it has captivated the local community's imagination.

ALAPAHA, Georgia (AP) -- Around these parts, they are calling it Hogzilla: a 12-foot-long wild hog recently killed on a plantation and now quickly becoming a part of local legend.

The plantation's owner claims the hog weighed 1,000 pounds and had 9-inch tusks. But few people have actually seen the hog -- the only proof being a photo that shows the dead beast hanging from a rope. [continued]

I saw this on Snopes I think -- real curious story. Still Undetermined at latest is it?

It is difficult to definitively determine whether Hogzilla is real or just a legend without further evidence. While there is a photo of the hog hanging from a rope, it is possible that the photo has been manipulated or exaggerated. Additionally, the only person who claims to have seen the hog is the plantation owner, which raises questions about the validity of the claim.

However, it is not impossible for a wild hog to reach such a size. Wild hogs are known to grow to large sizes, and there have been other cases of exceptionally large hogs being killed. So, while it is possible that Hogzilla is a real animal, it is also possible that it has been exaggerated and has become a local legend.

Ultimately, without more concrete evidence, it is impossible to definitively say whether Hogzilla is real or just a legend. But either way, it has captured the attention and imagination of the local community and has become a part of their folklore.

Just ONCE, I wanted to see a post titled Status Update that was not a blatant, annoying spam post by a new member. So here it is. Today was a good day here in Northern Wisconsin. Fall colors are here, no mosquitos, no deer flies, and mild temperature, so my morning run was unusually nice. Only two meetings today, and both went well. The deer that was road killed just down the road two weeks ago is now fully decomposed, so no more smell. Somebody has a spike buck skull for their...
