Interpreting (n,n*3) and (n,3n) ENDF Charts

1. What is the meaning of (n,n*3) and (n,3n)?

(n,n*3) is shown in ENDF charts for Inelastic levels and (n,3n) is shown for Threshold Reactions. For an example, see http://t2.lanl.gov/data/n7-pdf/sm/149.pdf

2. Also can you refer me to a book that explains how to interpret these types of charts?
