Is the energy generated from matter-antimatter annihilation useful?

AI Thread Summary
Matter-antimatter annihilation produces gamma rays and other particles, which raises questions about their potential use for propulsion in spacecraft. The discussion emphasizes understanding antimatter production, current quantities created by scientists, and storage methods before exploring practical applications. The feasibility of using gamma rays or particles for generating momentum in space travel remains uncertain. Further research is encouraged, including resources like Wikipedia for foundational knowledge. Exploring these aspects is crucial for assessing the utility of antimatter in energy generation and propulsion.

I understand that when matter and antimatter come in contact with each other, they annihilate to generate either gamma rays or other particles such as pions, electrons, etc. So my question is, how do we use the gamma rays or the particles to say move a spaceship from one point to another? (?generate momentum?)

Before that question is considered, I'd suggest you consider these questions:

  1. How is antimatter produced?
  2. How much antimatter has been produced by scientists up until today?
  3. How is antimatter stored?

Try to google for it, or try reading

Check out e.g. "Preservation" and "Cost".

Thread 'Is there a white hole inside every black hole?'
This is what I am thinking. How much feasible is it? There is a white hole inside every black hole The white hole spits mass/energy out continuously The mass/energy that is spit out of a white hole drops back into it eventually. This is because of extreme space time curvature around the white hole Ironically this extreme space time curvature of the space around a white hole is caused by the huge mass/energy packed in the white hole Because of continuously spitting mass/energy which keeps...
Why do two separately floating objects in a liquid "attract" each other ?? What if gravity is an emergent property like surface tension ? What if they both are essentially trying to *minimize disorder at the interfaces — where non-aligned polarized particles are forced to mix with each other* What if gravity is an emergent property that is trying to optimize the entropy emerging out of spin aligned quantum bits
