Students usually go on erasmus in their third year since then you got your basic courses done, normally the basic courses have very different layouts at different universities so it might stunt your education to do so early.

I highly recommend participating in the Erasmus Internship Program for physics students. This program offers many benefits, including the opportunity to gain practical experience in your field, develop new skills, and expand your network by working in a different country. It is definitely beneficial to do it in your second year, as it will give you a head start in your career and make you stand out to potential employers.

In terms of which field to look for, it would be best to choose one that aligns with your interests and future career goals. You can also discuss this with your academic advisor or professors to get their recommendations.

As for which country is more suitable for physics, it ultimately depends on your personal preferences and career goals. However, Germany is a great option for you since you have a strong background in the language and your university is a member of the program. Additionally, many top universities and research institutions for physics are located in Germany, making it a prime location for an internship.

I would also recommend considering the teaching language of the internship, as it may be beneficial to choose a country where English is widely spoken in the workplace. This will make the transition smoother and allow you to fully immerse yourself in the experience.

Overall, participating in the Erasmus Internship Program is a great opportunity for physics students and I encourage you to take advantage of it. Good luck with your decision and have a productive internship experience!
