Discussion Overview

The discussion centers around finding advanced quantum mechanics textbooks that include solutions to exercises. Participants are seeking resources that cover specific advanced topics such as scattering, Dirac fields, group representations, relativistic quantum mechanics, and tensor operators, particularly in preparation for an exam.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Homework-related

Main Points Raised

  • One participant requests recommendations for advanced quantum mechanics books with solutions, mentioning familiarity with Shankar and Sakurai.
  • Another participant shares a link to a list of physics books compiled by John Baez but does not specify a particular recommendation.
  • A follow-up comment seeks clarification on which book from the provided list is recommended.
  • One participant suggests Cohen-Tannoudji and Freeman Dyson as potential options, though it is unclear if they meet the criteria of having solutions.
  • A participant expresses dissatisfaction with the suggested books, reiterating the need for a book with many problems and solutions.
  • Another participant inquires about the availability of a solution manual for Schwabl's Advanced Quantum Mechanics.
  • Two specific books are recommended with links, claimed to meet the needs expressed in the discussion.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants do not appear to reach a consensus on specific book recommendations that meet the criteria of having solutions. Multiple competing views and suggestions remain unresolved.

Contextual Notes

Some suggestions may not explicitly confirm the presence of solutions to exercises, and the effectiveness of the recommended books in addressing the advanced topics requested is not established.

Hi there!

Can you please introduce me some books on advanced quantum mechanics which has solutions for its exercises. Of course, I know Shankar and Sakuraii, but, I mean something more advanced which covers these topics: (Scattering, Dirac Fields, Group Representations, Relativistic Quantum mechanics, Tensor operators and so on.)

Also, it is very important for me that such a book has solutions for its exercises because I am trying to prepare myself for a horrible exam.

Maybe Cohen-Tannoudji ? If that's too simple, perhaps Freeman Dyson

As I said, I need a book with many problems and solutions. Non of these books seems to satisfy me :(

Is there any solution manual for Schwabl's Advanced QM?
