Applied Mechanics Books - Physics & Practical Applications

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on recommendations for books on Applied Mechanics that encompass both the physics and practical applications relevant to mechanical engineering. The initial inquiry seeks resources that provide a comprehensive understanding of mechanics beyond just theoretical physics. A participant misinterprets this request, suggesting that studying mechanics inherently requires a physics perspective. However, the original poster clarifies their intent to explore both the physics and engineering applications of mechanics. This exchange highlights the importance of integrating theoretical knowledge with practical engineering insights in the study of Applied Mechanics.

What book would you recommend on Applied Mechanics? I wish to not only obtain the physics view; I also wish to obtain the practical applications of mechanics.

huh? How do you study mechanics while not studying the physics view. That's like wanting to learn how to build a house without wanting to learn how to use a hammer.

Sorry. I am not saying I wish to study mechanics without the physics view. I am saying I also wish to obtain the mechanical engineering view and am asking for a recommended book.

ha, I misread your post. oops. I missed the word 'only' in your post.

Hey, I am Andreas from Germany. I am currently 35 years old and I want to relearn math and physics. This is not one of these regular questions when it comes to this matter. So... I am very realistic about it. I know that there are severe contraints when it comes to selfstudy compared to a regular school and/or university (structure, peers, teachers, learning groups, tests, access to papers and so on) . I will never get a job in this field and I will never be taken serious by "real"...
Yesterday, 9/5/2025, when I was surfing, I found an article The Schwarzschild solution contains three problems, which can be easily solved - Journal of King Saud University - Science ABUNDANCE ESTIMATION IN AN ARID ENVIRONMENT https://jksus.org/the-schwarzschild-solution-contains-three-problems-which-can-be-easily-solved/ that has the derivation of a line element as a corrected version of the Schwarzschild solution to Einstein’s field equation. This article's date received is 2022-11-15...
