AI Thread Summary
Igneous rocks can exhibit layering, though it is not always apparent. Extruded basalt often shows layers or columns formed during cooling on the surface. The discussion also touches on the classification of granite as a basic rock type. Comparisons are made to sedimentary and metamorphic rocks, which are more distinctly layered. The conversation hints at further inquiries regarding chemical changes in igneous rocks.

They can be but it's not always very obvious
Extruded basalt that flowed on the surface before cooling shows layers or more often columns - if you want to consider these layers

what about sedimentary and metamorphic rocks

More obviosuly layered

so Granite can be classified as what basic rock type

what about granite

ok thanks

will you be around this time tomorrow? I have some questions concerning chemical changes.
