In summary: Karapetyan terminated the examination and ordered the prisoner taken to the local jail. Before leaving, he took a snapshot of the man, which he later developed and preserved in his files."In summary, the lieutenant colonel found that the man was not disguised, and that he was a wild man of some kind.

"Some think that Big foot is a hominid. George Karras - http://www.ratsnest.net/sasquatch/aboutsasquatch.htm (Northwest) "One thing we know for sure is that all known apes (Pongids) have a divergent large toe while Bigfoot does not. Bigfoot's tracks indicate that its foot more closely resemble the feet of Hominids such as Homo erectus or Homo sapiens (modern man) and hair samples that can not be positively identified more closely resemble Human hair than the hair of Apes or any other known animal. It is my opinion that Bigfoot is not Human but it is closer to Human than any animal alive today."
As mentioned above, Big Foot like creatures have been sighted throughout the world in wilderness areas. Dr. Myra Shackley, a professor of archaeology at Leiscester University is convinced that Big foot is a pre-hominid Neanderthal man, a predecessor of modern man, who supposedly was exterminated by Cro -Magnon man.
In the Altai Mountains of Mongolia, wild men known as Almas have been seen and known about by the area people for years. When people first settled this region, it is told how they drove the "WILD MEN" out of the immediate area. Dr. Myra Shackley actually went to the Altai Mountains and gathered evidence of the existence of these wild men known as Almas.
A Professor Porshnev investigated the case of a female Alma, described as having ape-like features and covered in hair, who was captured by the Altai Mountain people in the mid-nineteenth century. Called Zana, she eventually was domesticated and could do simple tasks such as grind corn. She loved grapes and wine, and after drinking heavily, would crash out for hours, which explains how she became pregnant several times. Her children, being half modern man, could talk and were rational human beings. The last of her children died in 1954. Professor Porshnev however interviewed her grandson, who had dark skin and Negroid features. His jaw was so strong that he could pick up a chair with a man sitting on it with his mouth."

Here's the story of the 1941 captured "wild man," from Mysteries of the Unexplained:

Stationed in Dagestan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic during the last three months of 1941, a Soviet Army lieutenant colonel named V.S. Karapetyan was asked by local authorities to examine a man captured in the mountains near Buinaksk. A strange-looking individual, the captive was suspected of being a disguised spy. It was hoped that Karapetyan, a medical officer, would be able to determine wether or not the suspect was wearing a disguise. As the colonel reported:

"I can still see the creature as it stood before me, a male, naked and barefoot. And it was undoubtably a man, because the entire shape was human. The chest, back, and shoulders, however, were covered with shaggy hair of a dark brown colour...
The man stood absolutely straight with his arms hanging, and his height was above the average-about 180 cm [about six feet]. He stood before me like a giant, his mighty chest thrust forward. His fingers were thick, strong, and exceptionally large. On the whole, he was considerably bigger than any of the local inhabitants.
His eyes told me nothing. They were dull and empty - the eyes of an animal...
When kept in a warm room he sweated profusely. While I was there, some water and then some food was brought up to his mouth; and someone offered him a hand, but there was no reaction. I gave the verbal conclusion that this was no disguised person, but a wild man of some kind."

What is the theory that Bigfoot is a remnant Neanderthal?

The theory that Bigfoot is a remnant Neanderthal suggests that the elusive creature known as Bigfoot or Sasquatch is actually a surviving population of Neanderthals, a human species that went extinct around 40,000 years ago.

What evidence supports the theory of Bigfoot as a remnant Neanderthal?

Some researchers point to physical characteristics of Bigfoot, such as a large, muscular body, prominent brow ridges, and a conical head shape, as similarities to Neanderthal anatomy. Others argue that sightings and footprints of Bigfoot align with the areas where Neanderthal fossils have been found.

How does the theory of Bigfoot as a remnant Neanderthal fit with the current understanding of human evolution?

This theory challenges the traditional understanding that Neanderthals went extinct without any surviving descendants. It suggests that a small population of Neanderthals may have survived and evolved into the creature known as Bigfoot.

What are some criticisms of the theory of Bigfoot as a remnant Neanderthal?

One of the main criticisms is the lack of concrete evidence to support this theory. Many of the sightings and footprints attributed to Bigfoot can be easily explained by other factors, such as misidentified animals or hoaxing. Additionally, the idea of a surviving population of Neanderthals goes against the current understanding of human evolution.

How can this theory be further studied and researched?

In order to further study and research this theory, scientists could gather more physical evidence, such as DNA samples or skeletal remains, to compare with known Neanderthal DNA. They could also conduct more thorough investigations into reported sightings and footprints to determine their validity.
