AI Thread Summary
Energy on Earth primarily originates from the sun and the Big Bang, with additional contributions from meteors and radiation from other celestial bodies. The discussion highlights the need for specificity when addressing energy sources, such as fossil fuels or nuclear energy. It emphasizes that most of the Earth's internal energy comes from gravitational potential energy released during its formation. While the sun is the dominant source, other factors also play a role in Earth's energy dynamics. Overall, understanding these sources requires a nuanced approach to the various forms of energy present on Earth.

Can energy be traced back to somewhere other than the sun?

I think you need to be more specific; as a start, are you talking about energy on earth? and what sort of energy are you thinking of, stuff like oil and gas? or less natural things like nuclear? or are you being more general and talking about movement of planets and such like?

It sounds like you are talking about the energy contained on the Earth at any point in time, which (off the top of my head) would have come mainly from the sun and the the Big Bang (when the Earth was created), but can also include many other smaller factors, ie. meteors hitting the earth, light/radiation energy from other celestial boddies aside from the sun etc.

The vast majority of energy of the part of the Earth below the crust can be traced back to gravitation potential energy expended during the formation of the earth.

comparing a flat solar panel of area 2π r² and a hemisphere of the same area, the hemispherical solar panel would only occupy the area π r² of while the flat panel would occupy an entire 2π r² of land. wouldn't the hemispherical version have the same area of panel exposed to the sun, occupy less land space and can therefore increase the number of panels one land can have fitted? this would increase the power output proportionally as well. when I searched it up I wasn't satisfied with...
