AI Thread Summary
The Kindle Touch can be charged using a standard Mini-USB connector, allowing compatibility with various USB chargers. Users report mixed experiences, with some chargers not fully charging the device, indicated by a persistent orange light. While many have successfully used phone chargers or computer USB ports, not all chargers provide sufficient voltage for optimal charging. Some older or lower-quality chargers may lead to incomplete charging. Overall, the Kindle Touch is versatile in charging options, but users should be cautious about the quality and output of their chargers.

I understand that Amazon don't give you a charger with the new Touch. I have read on (very non-tech) forums that there are 'issues' when trying to charge a Touch, with the Orange light coming on unexpectedly and uncertainty whether the thing is charged in fact.
Does the Touch charge via a USB connector? In which case, can it be charged via one of the half-dozen USB chargers I have acquired for smart phones etc.? I don't want to pay out on something I don't need. (Scrooge Mc Duck)
I'm asking here because I got fed up trawling through the ramblings of ignorami. I should be able to expect a bit more sense from you guys and some of you are just bound to own Touches.

This is just a guess based on the fact that the two Kindles I've seen have Mini-USB chargers, but I suspect the Touch also uses Mini-USB.

It just uses a standard mini-USB for charging.
I mostly use my phone charger, or I charge it by plugging it into a computer.

Thanks guys. I bought one and it seems to be just the same as anything else would be . Surprise surprise!

I have normal Kindle, and sometimes I use an old charger that I got with my hands-free-Bluetooth-ear-plug-whatever-it-is-called-in-English-thingy. And it doesn't work  That is, Kindle doesn't charge to 100%, and the diode stays yellow for ever - but it definitely gets charged and stops complaining about a low battery level. I guess the voltage from the charger is too low, or something like that.

While I was rolling out a shielded cable, a though came to my mind - what happens to the current flow in the cable if there came a short between the wire and the shield in both ends of the cable? For simplicity, lets assume a 1-wire copper wire wrapped in an aluminum shield. The wire and the shield has the same cross section area. There are insulating material between them, and in both ends there is a short between them. My first thought, the total resistance of the cable would be reduced...
Hi all I have some confusion about piezoelectrical sensors combination. If i have three acoustic piezoelectrical sensors (with same receive sensitivity in dB ref V/1uPa) placed at specific distance, these sensors receive acoustic signal from a sound source placed at far field distance (Plane Wave) and from broadside. I receive output of these sensors through individual preamplifiers, add them through hardware like summer circuit adder or in software after digitization and in this way got an...
I am not an electrical engineering student, but a lowly apprentice electrician. I learn both on the job and also take classes for my apprenticeship. I recently wired my first transformer and I understand that the neutral and ground are bonded together in the transformer or in the service. What I don't understand is, if the neutral is a current carrying conductor, which is then bonded to the ground conductor, why does current only flow back to its source and not on the ground path...
