AI Thread Summary
There are several free online journals available that do not require subscriptions, particularly in the fields of physical science and mathematics. Users can register for free access to the Institute of Physics (IoP) journals, which allows viewing all papers within the first 30 days of publication. The New Journal of Physics is also consistently available for free. The American Physical Society (APS) offers two free journals: Physical Review Special Topics - Accelerator and Beams and Physical Review Special Topics - Physics Education Research. Additionally, platforms like arXiv provide free access to a wide range of preprints and research articles. Other resources mentioned include Living Reviews in Relativity and the Philosophy of Science Archive, which also offer free content.

Are there any free journals online that don t require any subscriptions...?
My taste is more on the physical science, and math, but anythings would do, because i am cheap.

Physics news on Phys.org
If you register for free with Science, you can view articles that are +2 years old, and you get the ScienceNow news thing every week. You can also download Science and Scientific American off the internet illegally for free.

OK. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, here they are again:

1. The IoP gives FREE access to any registered users (you can register for free) of ALL of their papers in the publication collection within the 1st 30 days of appearing online.

In addition, I think the New Journal of Physics, part of the IoP publication, is always available for free online.

2. The APS has two journals in their collection that are available for free:

Physical Review Special Topics - Accelerator and Beams
Physicsl Review Special Topics - Physics Education Research

Similar to the 2024 thread, here I start the 2025 thread. As always it is getting increasingly difficult to predict, so I will make a list based on other article predictions. You can also leave your prediction here. Here are the predictions of 2024 that did not make it: Peter Shor, David Deutsch and all the rest of the quantum computing community (various sources) Pablo Jarrillo Herrero, Allan McDonald and Rafi Bistritzer for magic angle in twisted graphene (various sources) Christoph...
Thread 'My experience as a hostage'
I believe it was the summer of 2001 that I made a trip to Peru for my work. I was a private contractor doing automation engineering and programming for various companies, including Frito Lay. Frito had purchased a snack food plant near Lima, Peru, and sent me down to oversee the upgrades to the systems and the startup. Peru was still suffering the ills of a recent civil war and I knew it was dicey, but the money was too good to pass up. It was a long trip to Lima; about 14 hours of airtime...
