AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the possibility of using magnets to harness gravity, with participants questioning the feasibility of such technology. While magnets can attract ferrous metals, there is no established connection between magnetism and gravity. The conversation highlights the lack of current scientific basis for speculating about future technologies that could achieve this. The thread was temporarily closed for moderation, emphasizing the forum's focus on teaching established science rather than speculation. Overall, the idea remains unsubstantiated within the framework of known scientific principles.

Is it possible to harness gravity with a magnet?

Physics news on Phys.org
That's a pretty broad question. What are your thoughts on it?

well i mean you know how magnets attract each other would it be possible to not only use a magnet on iron but be able to attract more objects other than that.

Well, magnets attract ferrous metals, not just iron, but there's no apparent connection to gravity.

i know but like if humans had the technology to make such a thing.

But there is no such technology, and without knowing how such technology would work we can do little better than make random guesses.
In addition, PF's mission is to teach people about current science, not to speculate on future technology that has no basis in current science.
If you'd like to learn about current science, please feel free to stick around, but I'm afraid this thread will have to remain locked.
